We know that you probably have a few questions about our services, so we’ve provided a list of questions we are frequently asked. We hope we have adequately answered your questions here, but if we haven’t, feel free to call us and we’ll take care of you.

Business Finances

• Where is the accounting performed?
  
  

  Although we have a free courier service to and from your office, all work is performed in our office.

• Can you process my billing for me?
  
  Not a problem. We process all types of accounts receivable billings from AIA to standard. They can be electronically filed or mailed.

• If a customer's bill is overdue, will you perform collections?
  
  We are happy to track a customer’s debt for you and make a courtesy call at your request. We track all telephone correspondence in writing for your records. Monthly statements are also issued to each customer.

• Do you deal with payroll taxes or do we have to do that?
  
  You don’t handle anything except completing the information sheet and signing the checks and returns. We do everything else!

• Who does the banking?
  
  Doherty & Associates can perform this task for you when your checks are mailed to our lock box, or your can perform this task yourself. When this task is completed we can make all entries into the account. We reconcile your bank statements and provide all copies to you for your records.

• What happens to my records if I prefer my own accountant to prepare my income tax returns?
  
  No problem. We will provide them with the adequate information compiled from your data.

• Can you speak with the IRS on my behalf?
  
  Upon receipt of a power of attorney form from you, we can represent you before the Internal Revenue Service plus all state and local authorities.

• Can you file my income tax returns?
  
  Of course, we would be happy to.

• Do you have an initial consultation?
  
  If you are interested in our services, just give us a call or e-mail us, and we will set-up an appointment to discuss our services and your needs. Our initial meeting is free of charge!

• How long are we contracted to work with you?
  
  Most contracts are for one year, however, we have some on a temporary basis

• What is the advantage of hiring you over a franchise accounting and tax service?
  
  We save you money! Our rates on a daily basis are three times lower than a franchise accounting firm. Most franchise accounting firms do not give you the personalized daily service we provide.
  
  We never call out sick, we never go on vacation. Plus, where can you receive more knowledge, education, training and resources at your finger tips at a reasonable rate than at “DOHERTY & ASSOCIATES, INC.” (302-737-4309) where you have a full staff of accountants and bookkeepers working for you!

• What is the advantage of hiring Doherty & Associates over hiring an in-house accountant?
  
  It’s more cost effective! By the time you pay for an annual salary, benefits, training, and update your computer software and equipment, you would pay out more than you would to Doherty & Associates!

• What are your rates?
  
  Our rates are contracted by the hour for services such as data entry work, reconciling accounts, payroll tax preparation, tax returns, financial reporting, consulting, and other services. These prices are available on a per client bases.

• Are you licensed and insured?
  
  We are licensed through the State of Delaware and are fully insured. An insurance certificate is available upon request.
